A Digital Gift from Afar: A Look Back at Grundfos IT Classroom Initiatives Across China

In the fourth quarter of 2025, Grundfos Green IT Classroom Program reached Dali (Yunnan) and Xi’an (Shaanxi), alongside a community volunteer activity in Songjiang (Shanghai). Built on refurbished IT equipment and enriched by digital sustainability workshops and employee engagement, the initiative turned circular economy principles into tangible action—delivering quality digital resources to students, advancing educational equity, and opening doors to a wider world where green values and young dreams grow together.

Dali, Yunnan: A Digital Classroom Takes Root to Mountain Communities
In late October, a Grundfos Green IT Classroom was inaugurated at Xiaowandong Town in Dali, Yunnan. Equipped with 50 Grundfos refurbished computers, the new facility will serve over 600 students over the next three years—bringing new momentum to digital education in the mountain community. More than just a IT classroom, we hope it could be a window through which mountain children can see a wider world.

Following the ceremony, Grundfos volunteers led workshops on IT skills and environmental topics. From PPT making to poster design, students gained foundational digital skills while deepening their understanding of water conservation. Hands-on activities like composting and planting turned classroom learning into real-world action—letting green values take root in young hearts.

Xi’an, Shaanxi: Green Technology Meets Cultural Learning
In mid-December, Grundfos volunteers visited a village school in Chang’an, Xi’an, where a newly opened Green IT Classroom hosted a themed workshop blending traditional Chinese culture, global festivities, and environmental awareness—helping students broaden their perspectives in a multicultural context.

The 35 laptops, provided by Grundfos and refurbished by Netspring, extend the lifecycle of IT equipment while serving as a vivid example of the circular economy in action. Through bilingual vocabulary activities, digital tools, and creative crafts, volunteers guided students in exploring the meaning of “protect,” “save,” and “reuse”—turning sustainability concepts into tangible experiences and allowing green values to take root in everyday learning.

Songjiang, Shanghai: Digital Beginnings, Green Connections
In early December, Grundfos volunteers and Netspring team visited a migrant school in Shanghai Songjiang District, delivering a dual-theme workshop that combined English crafts with Green IT learning. In a relaxed and engaging atmosphere, students were introduced to digital devices, building foundational digital literacy. Volunteers guided students in reflecting on the connection between everyday actions and environmental protection. A short yet impactful session, it sparked curiosity and planted seeds of sustainability at the very start of their digital journey.
